New Jersey Statutes Title 18A. Education 18A § 13-60

The members of the board of education of the regional district shall continue in office until the withdrawal of the district or the dissolution of the regional district has become effective. When a withdrawal has taken effect, the terms of those members of the regional board who reside in the withdrawing district shall thereupon expire, and the vacancies so occurring shall be reapportioned among the remaining districts and filled by appointment by the county superintendent to serve until the next annual school election of the regional district, at which time their successors shall be elected in accordance with such reapportionment.
