1. When in any city of this state proceedings have been taken under the act to which this act is a further supplement and a board of commissioners of adjustment has been appointed and the office of all the members of such board of commissioners of adjustment afterwards becomes vacant by death, resignation or otherwise, it shall be the duty of the circuit court, on the application of such city, to appoint other competent persons as commissioners under said act, in the same manner as original appointments are therein required to be made, to take the place of the former board of commissioners of adjustment; and the said commissioners, when appointed, shall have the same powers and shall perform all the duties and be compensated in the same manner as provided for the original board of commissioners appointed for such city under said act.
