1. The governor be and he is hereby authorized to appoint a commission to consist of three persons, residents of the state of New Jersey, for the purpose of purchasing, on behalf and in the name of the state of New Jersey, a plot of ground in the village of Hancock's Bridge, in the township of Lower Alloways Creek, in the county of Salem, this date [state], on which the building known as the Hancock House is located. Said commission, when appointed, shall have power to purchase said property, at a price not to exceed forty-five hundred ($4,500) dollars.
