Each professional member of the board must be a resident of this state who is an architect or landscape architect and who has been a resident of and in active practice in this state for not less than five years before appointment. The public member of the board must be a resident of this state for at least five years before appointment, who is not licensed under this chapter, who is not a spouse of an individual licensed under this chapter, and who is not employed by an architecture or landscape architecture firm. The governor may remove any member of the board for inefficiency or neglect of duty.
