The department may make expenditures to:
(1) purchase equipment, materials, supplies, and personal services that are necessary to execute the functions imposed on it by this part;
(2) obtain data on vertebrate pesticide registration and research information on alternative vertebrate pest management techniques;
(3) conduct research or evaluation studies;
(4) enter contracts with individuals, universities, other states, state or federal agencies, or other entities it considers appropriate to conduct vertebrate pest management projects;
(5) maintain and support registration of current rodenticides such as compound 1080, strychnine, and zinc phosphide;
(6) seek registration of alternative rodenticides;
(7) develop and implement new vertebrate pest management methods and crop damage assessment techniques;
(8) support vertebrate pest management research and evaluation projects;
(9) educate the agricultural community regarding vertebrate pest management problems and needs;
(10) educate the general public regarding vertebrate pest concerns and the need for vertebrate pest management; and
(11) perform any other related activities.
