If any balance arising from the sale is not claimed by the rightful owner within 1 week from the day of the sale, the balance must be paid into the treasury of the county in which the sale took place, and if the balance is not claimed by the owner or the owner's legal representatives within 1 year after the sale, the balance must be paid into the general fund of the county.
