The board of county commissioners has jurisdiction and power, under such limitations and restrictions as are prescribed by law, to insure the county buildings in the name of and for the benefit of the county and shall have the power to use the proceeds of any insurance policy which may be paid by reason of a loss covered thereby for the purpose of rebuilding the structure lost or damaged or, if the fire insurance proceeds are less than $25,000, for building new structures or buildings.
