Whenever any petition is filed under 7-2-2705, the election administrator shall immediately examine the petition and determine from the registration records of the county whether the petition has been signed by the required number of registered electors and shall attach to the petition the administrator's certificate showing the total number of registered electors residing within the boundaries described in the petition and the number of registered electors whose names appear on the petition and shall deliver the petition, with the certificate attached, to the board of county commissioners when the board meets to consider and take final action on the petition for abandonment.
