(1) Subject to the limitations and restrictions provided in the code for the letting of contracts, each board may let by contract the construction, maintenance, and improvement of county roads and the construction, maintenance, or repair of bridges when the amount of work to be done exceeds the sum of $1,000.
(2) As used in this part, unless the context requires otherwise, “board” means the board of county commissioners.
