Montana Title 7. Local Government § 7-13-4401. Water regulation

The city or town council has power to provide for the cleaning of waters, watercourses, and streams within the city or to alter, straighten, or widen the same and to provide for the draining and filling in of ponds, wells, or shafts on private property when necessary to the public health or public welfare.
