Subject to 35-8-304 and 35-8-306, if a record authorized or required to be filed under this chapter contains a false statement, a person who suffers loss by reliance on the statement may recover damages for the loss from the person who signed the record or caused another to sign it on that person's behalf and who knew the statement to be false at the time that the record was signed.
