(1) A notice of cancellation or of intention not to renew or of reasons for cancellation of insurance issued under terms of this chapter must be retained for a period of 3 years by the insurer or the insurer's insurance producer within this state and must be made available within this state for examination or inspection by the commissioner or the insurer's insurance producers at any time within the 3-year period upon reasonable notice.
(2) Proof of mailing of notice of cancellation or of intention not to renew or of reasons for cancellation to the named insured at the address shown in the policy or to the named insured's last-known address is sufficient proof of notice.
