To the extent that the true facts are, with reasonable diligence, ascertainable with definiteness and certainty, only a retraction constitutes a correction; otherwise the publication or broadcast of the defamed person's statement of the true facts or so much of the statement that is not defamatory of another, scurrilous, or otherwise improper for publication or broadcast, published or broadcast as the defamed person's statement, constitutes a correction within the meaning of 27-1-818 through 27-1-821.
