(1) Subject to subsection (2), the director shall choose a date, time, and place for
hearing and give prompt notice thereof to the parties involved, their attorneys, and
the members of the panel. The hearing date may not be more than 120 days after transmittal of the application
by the director, unless the panel finds that good cause exists for extending the 120-day
(2) Panel hearings may be held in any county the panel considers necessary or advisable.
The county commissioners or other governing authority shall, upon request of the director
of the panel, provide suitable facilities for the hearing.
