Each party to a civil action is required to pay the fees fixed by law for the performance of any service or duty by any officer of such court at the instance of such party at the time such service is rendered, except in the case mentioned in 25-10-405 and 25-10-701; and no such officer is required to perform such service or duty unless the fees fixed therefor are, on demand, first paid or tendered.
