The superintendent of public instruction or members of the superintendent's staff, county superintendent or members of the superintendent's staff, trustee, or district employee may not act as an agent or solicitor in the sale or supply of goods or services to a district. An enumerated person may not assist or receive a reward from an agent or solicitor of goods or services for a district. Any person violating this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, if convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction, shall be fined not less than $50 or more than $200 and shall be liable to removal from the person's position. The penalties provided by this section may not be applicable if the charge and conviction are made under the provisions of 20-7-608.
