(1) A member who elects to and is eligible to purchase service credit from another retirement system or plan into a retirement system provided for in 19-2-302 may, prior to retirement, file a written application with the board to roll over, in accordance with the requirements of this part, to the retirement system to which the member belongs all or a portion of the member's account with the other eligible retirement system or plan. The total amount of the rollover to the retirement system may not exceed the amount of service credit that the member is allowed to purchase as a member of that system. The rollover must be completed prior to the member's retirement.
(2) The board shall accept a direct rollover of eligible distributions from another eligible retirement plan as provided in subsection (1) only to the extent permitted by section 401(a)(31) of the Internal Revenue Code.
