If, at any time pending a suit by attachment, it shall appear to the court before which the action is pending that the bond given by the plaintiff is insufficient, or that any surety therein has died, or has removed from the state, or has become or is likely to become insolvent, the court may order another bond and such further security to be given as shall seem necessary five days' previous notice, in writing, having been given to the plaintiff, his agent or attorney, of the application for such order.
