As soon as possible after issue is joined in a case pending in circuit court or after ten days from the date a case reaches the trial court upon appeal, by change of venue or otherwise upon issue already joined, the clerk shall place the same upon the trial docket. Cases shall be set for trial in accordance with the rules and practice of the trial court except as such appeals may be otherwise especially provided for by law.
