The director of the department of commerce and insurance shall cause to be prepared, and furnished to every insurance company doing business in this state, forms of the statements required by him from said companies, and he may make such changes and additions, from time to time, in the same, and in any statements required, as shall seem to him best adapted to elicit from said companies a true exhibit of their condition and management.
