1. The division of finance shall have charge of the execution of the laws relating to banks, trust companies, and the banking business of this state; of the laws relating to persons and entities engaged in the small loan or consumer credit business in this state; of the laws relating to persons and entities engaged in the mortgage loan business in this state; and of the laws relating to persons and entities engaged in any other financial services-related business over which the division of finance is granted express authority.
2. The director of finance may institute, in the name of the state of Missouri, and defend suits in the courts of this state and the United States.
