Upon a request from the director of the department of natural resources, the commissioner of administration shall draw a warrant payable to the director of the division of geology and land survey in an amount to be specified by the director of the department of natural resources, but such amount shall not exceed the sum of five hundred dollars. The sum so specified shall be placed in the hands of the director of the division of geology and land survey as a revolving fund to be used in the cash transactions involving the sale of items made by the division of geology and land survey. All transactions shall be made in accordance with rules and regulations established by the commissioner of administration.
