The commissioner of administration may deduct from any state employee's compensation amounts determined to be owed by such employee pursuant to the procedures contained in section 208.080 for any debt related to the overpayment of public assistance benefits, including food stamps, aid to families with dependent children, medical assistance, general relief, and similar assistance administered by the department of social services or other state department; provided that involuntary deductions based on such a debt determination may be made only if the determination is final.
