Other provisions of the law to the contrary notwithstanding, requirements imposed by state law or regulation that institutions defined under chapters 197 and 198 make notifications concerning patients who are diagnosed as having reportable infectious or contagious diseases shall apply to such institutions provided that such notifications are consistent with federal laws and rules and regulations imposed thereunder governing the confidentiality of records of patients receiving medical assistance under the provisions of federal law.
