Missouri Revised Statutes Title XI. Education and Libraries § 172.440. Objects of these colleges

The leading objects of said colleges shall be to teach such branches as are related to agriculture and mechanic arts and mining, including military tactics, and without excluding other scientific and classical studies, in order to promote the liberal and practical education of the industrial classes in the several pursuits and professions of life.
