The board of trustees or its duly authorized representatives may, at any time, in its or their sole discretion, waive compliance by members, retirants, or beneficiaries with any procedural requirements imposed by sections 169.270 to 169.400 upon its or their determination that, under the circumstances, compliance with such procedural requirements would be impractical or infeasible and would be unnecessary for the protection of the interest of the retirement system and its members.
