All rewards in money, fees, gifts and endowments that may be paid or given for or on account of extraordinary services by said police department or any member thereof, except when permitted by the board of police commissioners to be retained by said member, shall be paid into said pension fund. The board of trustees may take by gift, grant, devise or bequest of any money, real estate, personal property, right of property or other valuable things, and the same shall be treated as a part of and for the uses of said fund. All fines and penalties imposed upon members of the department for dereliction of duty or violating any order or regulation, shall form part of said fund.
