Should a member cease to be a policeman except by death or actual retirement, the member may request payment of the amount of the accumulated contributions standing to the credit of the member's individual account, including members' interest, in which event such amount shall be paid to the member not later than one year after the member ceases to be a policeman. If the former member is reemployed as a policeman before any portion of such former member's accumulated contributions is distributed, no distribution shall be made. If the former member is reemployed as a policeman after a portion of the former member's accumulated contributions is distributed, the amount remaining shall also be distributed.
