Such township planning commission shall consist of the township trustee, the commissioner of the county commission who represents the township, one member of the township board selected by the township board, and one resident freeholder appointed by the township board from the unincorporated part of the township for a term of four years or until his successor takes office. The terms of all other members shall be only for the duration of their tenure of official position. All members of the township planning commission shall serve as such without compensation, except that an attendance fee as reimbursement for expenses, for not to exceed two meetings per month, may be paid to the freeholder member of the planning commission in an amount, as set by the township board, not to exceed fifteen dollars for each meeting. The planning commission shall elect its chairman who shall serve for one year.
