It shall be the duty of the various recorders of this state to receive and receipt for such patents as may be forwarded to them by the register of the United States land office, and to list and preserve the same in their office until such time as they may be withdrawn on application of the owner of the property described in such patent; provided, that nothing in sections 59.540 and 59.550 shall prevent any person from having any patent withdrawn and recorded in such office upon payment to the recorder of the necessary recording fee.
