The county commission of each county of the first class not having a charter form of government and of each county of the second class shall provide, at the expense of the county, suitable books, stationery and furniture for the office of county auditor, and the commission shall also furnish the auditor with a suitable office, and the auditor shall keep his office at such place as the commission directs, and shall there keep the records, books, papers and property belonging to his office.
