Every assessor, in counties of class one, before entering upon the duties of his office, shall give a surety bond to the state to the satisfaction of the county commission, with one or more solvent sureties, in the sum of not less than ten thousand dollars, the amount to be fixed by the county commission, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties of his office, which bond shall be recorded in the office of the recorder of deeds of the county and then deposited and kept in the office of the clerk of the county commission.
