In any county through which a federal interstate highway passes, or in any county which has an official weigh station, the county may receive an additional two thousand five hundred dollars for duties associated with offenses originating on the federal interstate highway or at a weigh station.  The county shall allocate these moneys for the compensation of the sheriff and prosecuting or circuit attorney in the proportion sixty percent to the prosecuting or circuit attorney and forty percent to the sheriff.
