Officers of the Missouri state defense force shall be appointed in the manner prescribed by this chapter for the appointment of officers in the organized militia. Officers may hold commissions in both the National Guard and the Missouri state defense force at the same time and the acceptance of one shall not have the effect of vacating the other. The Missouri state defense force shall be under the command of the commanding general designated by the governor by and with the advice and consent of the senate.
