1. All state or local public employee retirement systems shall notify the committee within seven calendar days when the governing body thereof which determines the amount and type of plan benefits to be paid takes final action providing any new or additional payments beyond the plan provisions of the prior plan year of periodic cost-of-living increases in pension and retirement benefits for its retired officers and employees and spouses of deceased officers and employees.
2. If so requested at any time by the committee, any state or local public employee retirement system providing such periodic cost-of-living increases shall provide satisfactory evidence of its actuarial soundness.
