November thirteenth of each year shall be known and designated as “John Jordan ‘Buck’ O'Neil Day” in Missouri in honor of John Jordan “Buck” O'Neil, the first African American who coached in Major League Baseball. He also played a major role in establishing the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri. The citizens of this state are encouraged to participate in events and activities to celebrate the life of John Jordan “Buck” O'Neil.
