The commissioner may enter into an agreement with the commissioner of public safety to allow designated employees of the Department of Revenue to have access to the criminal justice data communications network provided insection 299C.46. For purposes of that section, the criminal investigation unit of the Department of Revenue is considered a criminal justice agency.
