When a local welfare agency receives a report or otherwise has information indicating that a child who is a client, as defined insection 245.91, has been the subject of maltreatment at an agency, facility, or program, as defined insection 245.91, the local welfare agency shall, in addition to its other duties under this chapter, immediately inform the ombudsman established undersections 245.91to245.97. The commissioner of education shall inform the ombudsman established undersections 245.91to245.97of reports regarding a child who is a client, as defined insection 245.91, that maltreatment occurred at a school as defined insection 120A.05, subdivisions 9,11, and13, and chapter 124E.
