Data provided by a nonprofit health coverage entity to the commissioner or the attorney general undersections 145D.30to145D.32are, for data on individuals, confidential data on individuals as defined undersection 13.02, subdivision 3, and, for data not on individuals, protected nonpublic data as defined undersection 13.02, subdivision 13. The provided data are not subject to subpoena and shall not be subject to discovery or admissible in evidence in any private civil action. The attorney general or the commissioner may provide access to any data classified as confidential or protected nonpublic under this section to any law enforcement agency if the attorney general or commissioner determines that the access aids the law enforcement process. This section shall not be construed to limit the attorney general's authority to use the data in furtherance of any legal action brought according tosection 145D.34.
