Sec. 217a. Any individual who on his own behalf, or as officer, agent, partner, employee, or representative of any entity, solicits or aids or abets another in soliciting information from any person as to his or any other person's place of employment, residence, assets or earnings, by any means whatever with the intent of misleading the person into believing that the information is being sought by or on behalf of, or for the purposes of, any governmental agency or commission is guilty of a misdemeanor.
