Sec. 588. Any sheriff, constable, or other officer, who has summoned any jury as mentioned in section 587 above, 1 shall attend the jury and take charge of them when required to do so by the officer issuing the summons. For any wilful neglect to obey the order to do so or for any misconduct while attending the jury, by which the rights or remedies of any party to the proceedings may be impaired or prejudiced, he shall be liable to be fined in a sum not exceeding $100.00 by the officer before whom the jury appeared.
