Michigan Compiled Laws, Chapter 400. Social Services § 400.35

Sec. 35.  Notwithstanding section 2(6),  1 records relating to categorical assistance, including medical assistance, shall be confidential and shall not be open to inspection except as prescribed in section 64.  2  The state department of social services may promulgate and enforce rules for the use of the records as may be necessary for purposes related to federal, state, or local public assistance, pursuant to Act No. 306 of the Public Acts of 1969, as amended.  3
