Sec. 263. (1) Included in the appropriation in section 236  1 for fiscal year 2024-2025 for MSU AgBioResearch is $2,982,900.00 and included in the appropriation in section 236 for MSU Extension is $2,645,200.00 for Project GREEEN. Project GREEEN is intended to address critical regulatory, food safety, economic, and environmental problems faced by this state's plant-based agriculture, forestry, and processing industries. “GREEEN” is an acronym for Generating Research and Extension to Meet Environmental and Economic Needs.

(2) The department of agriculture and rural development and Michigan State University, in consultation with agricultural commodity groups and other interested parties, shall develop Project GREEEN and its program priorities.
