Sec. 97m. (1) From the general fund money appropriated in section 11, 1 there is allocated for 2024-2025 only an amount not to exceed $1,000,000.00 for 42 Strong to continue 42 Strong's work at implementing a peer mentoring program designed to drive outcomes that include, but are not limited to, increasing student connectedness to families, peers, the school, and community; improving student self-esteem; and improving overall student well-being.
(2) 42 Strong must utilize funding under this section to expand implementation of its peer mentoring program within its current school system and may also utilize the funding to expand to communities in other school districts.
(3) Notwithstanding section 17b, 2 the department shall make payments under this section by December 1, 2024.
(4) Notwithstanding section 18a, 3 funds allocated under this section may be available for expenditure until September 30, 2028. A recipient of funding under this section must return any unexpended funds to the department in the manner prescribed by the department by not later than October 30, 2028.
