Michigan Compiled Laws, Chapter 333. Health § 333.16657

Sec. 16657. (1) A supervising dentist shall arrange for another dentist or specialist to provide any services needed by a patient of a dental therapist who is supervised by that dentist that are beyond the scope of practice of the dental therapist and that the supervising dentist is unable to provide.

(2) A dental therapist, in accordance with a written practice agreement entered into under section 16655,  1 shall refer patients to another qualified dental professional or health care professional to receive needed services that exceed the scope of practice of the dental therapist.
