Maine Revised Statutes Title 32. Professions and Occupations § 13005. Penalties

A person or entity who violates any provision of this chapter commits a civil violation for which a forfeiture of not more than $2,000 for each violation may be adjudged, plus the amount of compensation received in the subject transaction. Any officer or agent of an entity who personally participates in or is accessory to a violation of this chapter is subject to the penalties prescribed under this section. Any court of competent jurisdiction has full power to try any violation of this chapter and, upon conviction, the court may at its discretion revoke or suspend the license of the person or entity so convicted. All fines and penalties over and above the cost of court proceedings inure to the commission. A violation of this chapter includes performing or attempting to perform those acts that constitute prohibited practices.

The State may bring an action in Superior Court to enjoin any person from violating this chapter, regardless of whether other administrative, civil or criminal proceedings have been or may be instituted.
