The program of the community colleges shall be designed to educate, train and prepare high school graduates, or the equivalent, for possible employment as technicians or technologists, including health technicians and technologists, engineering assistants, business and office administrators or workers, mechanics or repairers, craft workers, construction workers or precision production workers or other skilled workers, in accordance with the mission and goals set forth in section 12703. Unless and until the board of trustees deems it necessary to adopt other nomenclature to fulfill the purposes of this chapter, the names of the colleges shall be:
1. Central Maine. Central Maine Community College;
2. Eastern Maine. Eastern Maine Community College;
3. Kennebec Valley. Kennebec Valley Community College;
4. Northern Maine. Northern Maine Community College;
5. Southern Maine. Southern Maine Community College;
6. Washington County. Washington County Community College; and
7. York County. York County Community College.
