The agreement entered into pursuant to R.S. 47:337.16.1 shall provide an effective date and may contain a termination date and any other provisions that the parties deem necessary to carry out the purposes of R.S. 47:337.16 through 47:337.16.6. If the agreement does not contain a termination date either party may terminate it by giving six months' notice in writing to the other party, or it may be terminated at any time by the mutual consent of both parties. Nothing in this Section shall be construed so as to prohibit the parties from extending the agreement from time to time if they so desire.
