No employee of the division shall accept any fee for the performance of an act in line of duty or any reward offered for the apprehension or conviction of any person or for the recovery of any property. Any fee or reward to which the employee would be entitled except for the foregoing provision shall be paid into the state treasury and credited to the State Police Retirement Fund. 1
