A. There is hereby established a special account in the state treasury to be known as the Emergency Medical Technician Dedicated Fund Account, hereafter referred to as “account”, which shall consist of monies generated by the fees collected from the purchase of prestige license plates for certified emergency medical technicians as provided in R.S. 47:463.47. In addition, the legislature may make annual appropriations to the account for the purposes set forth in this Section.
B. All monies collected pursuant to R.S. 47:463.47 shall be deposited in the Bond Security and Redemption Fund as required by Article VII, Section 9(B) of the Constitution of Louisiana and thereafter shall be credited to a special agency account. Funding deposited into the account shall be considered fees and self-generated revenues and shall be available for annual appropriations by the legislature.
C. The monies in the account shall be appropriated to the Louisiana Department of Health solely for purchasing equipment for the testing of applicants for certification as an emergency medical technician and to cover other testing-related costs. All unexpended and unencumbered monies remaining in the account at the close of each fiscal year shall remain in the account.
